Information Security @ UPB
Paderborn University has set up an information security team to serve as a central point of contact for information security-related queries.
Information security thus supports data protection, which involves safeguarding personal data from misuse, thereby protecting the privacy and personal rights of those affected.
The Information Security Team at Paderborn University
- advises users from committees and departments, as well as those involved in information, communication and media technologies, on information security issues.
- develops recommendations for technical, organisational, and awareness measures, and collaborates closely with the CIO, IT operators, the data protection officer, and the university's Presidium.
- is the central point of contact for information security incidents and supports the relevant bodies in their efforts to coordinate and limit damage to the university.
Data protection gives rise to legal requirements for information security. For instance, the university must report 'breaches of personal data protection' to the supervisory authority within 72 hours. To this end, all information security incidents within the university must be reported immediately after they occur.
Further information on how to report an Information Security Incident can be found at:
Information Security Guideline
The university-wide information security guideline concisely defines the fundamental objectives, responsibilities, and measures necessary to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all relevant UPB information. It establishes basic information security requirements.
